Dr. Mary Beth Claypool

Dr. Mary Beth Claypool hails from a small farming community in S.W. Missouri. Her aspiration, as long as she can remember, was to become a veterinarian. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, in 2000.

Since receiving her DVM, Dr. Claypool has practiced medicine and performed surgeries in mixed animal practices primarily working with small animals and horses. Her special interests include allergies and skin diseases, lameness in dogs and working with cats.

Dr. Claypool and her husband, Brandon, welcomed a son, Garrett, in September of 2005. In addition, their family includes "Zoe", a labrador retriever, "Pistol Pete" and "Screech", their two cats. In her spare time, which has become more limited since the arrival of her son, she enjoys watching her husband coach football at Shawnee Mission South, playing the piano, baking, playing golf, fishing and cross stitch.

"One of the most enjoyable aspects of veterinary medicine is helping owners make informed decisions regarding the care of their special companions. Educating clients about their pet's care and special needs allows them to participate in providing the highest quality of care for their pets and assure a long, healthy life."
